Expert’s Comment : British India errors are a fascinating field of study, and they are equally difficult to acquire. Because these coins were withdrawn from circulation roughly a century ago, there is no prospect of an error simply turning up in everyday change; every surviving piece must come from existing holdings. This 1945 Quarter Rupee of George VI, struck at the Bombay Mint, displays an off-center strike. During minting, the blank shifted out of position between the dies, so that the dies struck only a portion of the blank rather than its full surface, leaving part of the design absent from the coin.
