1/4 Rupee William IIII King 1835 CE (Obv A, Rev III) 18 Berries ‘F’ Raised Calcutta Mint Silver Coin, British India Uniform Coinage, Collectible.
Approx Weight – 2.81 grams,
Approx Diameter – 19.2 mm
Expert’s Comment: The raised “F” variety is difficult to identify by eye, as the letter is not prominently struck during the minting process and tends to disappear with even slight circulation and subsequent wear. This specimen is attributed as a raised “F” on the strength of its die combination, Obverse A paired with Reverse III, together with the absence of any incuse or dug-out “F” on the coin. The identification therefore rests on die pairing and the elimination of the alternative variety, rather than on the letter alone. This makes confirmed examples a point of real interest for specialist collectors of British India die varieties.
