Rare 8 Annas George V King Emperor 1919 Cupro-Nickel Coin, British India Uniform Coinage, Collectible.

Note : During World War I the British Colonial Government in India issued Cupro-Nickel 8 Annas Coins to replace the existing Silver Half Rupee Coins (16 Annas = 1 Rupee). However this move was not successful as Indians rejected to accept these Cupro-Nickel coins instead of Silver coins. As a result after being issued for 2 Years (1919 and very limited issue in 1920) these coins were withdrawn from circulation and melted.
Very limited issue and further withdrawal from circulation to be melted rendered these 8 Annas to be highly sought after and equally hard to acquire.
