★ The coin was issued between the years 1950-56 in the Anna Series of Republic India Coinage.
★ Annas series of Republic India Coinage was issued after Independence and before India Adopted the Decimal Coinage System.
★ The Annas series derives its name from the fact that one rupee in the coinage was divided into 16 Annas following the earlier system of Imperial Coinage.
★ Post-1956 India Adopted the current decimal system where rupee is divided into 100 paise.
★ Half Rupee Anna Series coins were minted in Nickel, with a standard diameter of 24 mm and a standard weight of 5.78 gms.
★ These coins were minted by the Indian Government Mint Mumbai & Calcutta.
