Note : During World War I the British Colonial Government in India issued Cupro-Nickel 4 Annas Coins to replace the existing Silver 1/4 Rupee Coins (16 Annas = 1 Rupee | 4 Annas = 1/4 Rupees ). However this move was not successful as Indians rejected to accept these Cupro-Nickel coins instead of Silver coins. As a result after being issued for 3 Years (1919,1920 and very limited issue in 1921) these coins were withdrawn from circulation and melted.
Very limited issue and further withdrawal from circulation to be melted rendered these 4 Annas to be highly sought after and equally hard to acquire.
